An IMDB top 250 movie, this was enjoyable to watch. The character development was rather rapid at the beginning – it did feel like the insurance salesman was a bit of a sap and just fell a bit too easily for the woman. The investigator character ‘Keyes’ was excellent – and the way his ‘little man’ gave him an issue if things weren’t quite right was amusing. The whole story is done as a sort of confession/narration, which works well.
I did have to watch it over two days though, as I was either very tired, or it was making me sleepy – one of the two!
It gets an 8/10.
Having not read anything more than the synopsis on Lovefilm, I wasn’t too sure what this was really about, but it’s a movie I’ve wanted to see for a while. I am surprised at the relatively low rating on IMDB though (6.8/10 as I write this).
An enjoyable movie with a fair amount of action, and a good dose of humour. I suppose the only poor part was the last fight, it felt a little short.
Putting a ‘monster’ in a modern day city was amusing, especially with the ‘reported sights’ of Hellboy which were always denied by the US Government. Which made me wonder how exactly they kept him quiet when in the rest of the movie he was in very busy areas, with lots of public!
I am giving it 8/10 for pure fun.
Side note:
I’ve just realised that the last two films I watched were made 60 years apart.
