Movie: Duck Soup (1933)

Duck Soup:

A Marx brothers film.

I am sure when I was younger, I used to love Marx brothers films, perhaps because some of the humour really was extremely childish, and you didn’t need to understand what was going on in the story to understand the childish humour.

Anyway, I found this very dull, unfortunately. I was however really looking forward to it, as I haven’t seen a Marx brothers film for (probably) well over a decade, maybe two!

The jokes, childish or not, were all a bit silly, and didn’t generally make me laugh. I don’t think it’s anything to do with the age of the film per se, as I do like the Charlie Chaplin films, and his humour. Which is generally equally silly. Something just didn’t quite gel right with this film for me.

I give it 5/10
