Movie: Umberto D (1952)

Umberto D:

Firstly, I’m confused. I watched this either early on this week, or last week, and can vaguely remember writing a log entry down for this film, but, having a quick look at my journal, I can’t see one for it.

This film is about a pensioner, who is in debt, and at risk of being evicted by his fairly evil landlady.

The film starts with a badly organised rally being broken up by the police, where pensioners are rallying for an increase to their pension.

It’s a fairly slow moving film, and I found the story a little hard to follow. Some scenes, however, were really very good – basically, the long end scene.
The rest of the film was so-so, in my opinion. The despair was shown well though.

I give it 6/10
