Movie: All Quiet on the Western Front (1930)

All Quiet on the Western Front:

A world war 1 film from the perspective of German soldiers. It’s based on a German novel.

I found this film really quite interesting. With the naivety, or perhaps simply brainwashing that the boys had at school, followed by the realisation of what war really was.
Especially good was the scene in which they ask why the war was being fought, who has the advantage, etc. The military-industry complex was even mentioned!

It is a serious, and therefore quite sad film.

If it wasn’t for the slightly odd acting, and the scene at the beginning where the teacher is convincing the boys to sign up for the army, I think this would have got 10/10.

I give it 9/10
