Movie: The African Queen (1951)

The African Queen:

I watched this on Wednesday night, so I’ve already forgotten some parts of this movie!

The beginning almost put me off this film completely – it starts off with African natives ‘singing’ in a church, and it just sounds like a droning. Luckily, it was only at the beginning of the film!

The main part of this film is following Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart on a boat, trying to get to safety on a lake, after the village they were in was attacked.

You could see it was going to turn into a romance of some sort, just maybe not clear as to exactly how that would happen.
The shift from ‘Miss’ to ‘Rosie’, and ‘Mr Allnut’ to ‘Dear’, really did amuse me – it was so prim and proper!

The acting was pretty much top notch all the way through – a few minor bits were a bit off, but, the generally fantastic performance was enjoyable to watch.

I give it 8/10
