Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer

Well, this was a movie I have wanted to see for a while, but knew it had very poor reviews. I can see why now. Even with all the really good special effects, it could not be saved.
How Doctor Doom got to Latveria was not explained. Why the hell they had to keep going on and on about the bloody wedding, and why the hell was Invisible Woman’s character playing so shallow?

It gets 4/10 purely for the special effects, and the few bits of the story that  were vaguely interesting (what can I say, I like comics and superhero stuff).

The Third Man:

A mystery film that really kept me going without a clue until near a certain character made an appearance. Also, even after that point, the story had lots to develop.
I’ll repeat the synopsis, as that’s about all I can say without giving the film away – the main character has just arrived in Vienna to visit his friend. As he arrives, he is told that his friend has died, and his funeral is taking place right now. The character then gets told that his friend was involved with the black market. After investigating how his friend died, he decides that something is not right, as the stories that people are giving him differ slightly. And it all goes on from there.
It’s showing its age a bit, but the post World War II Vienna is an excellent back drop to this story, with the international police, and the city being divided into quarters.

I give it 9/10. Definitely worth a watch
