M:
A film about a child murderer in Berlin, who terrorises the city, and causes the police to look anywhere and everywhere in an attempt to find a clue to the murderers identity. This causes a knock on effect for criminals who are targeted more, and even the general population, where any contact with a child might be taken out of proportion.
Due to the age of the film, I was expecting a rather poor viewing experience, but, the restoration done in 2003 has been fantastic. The sound seems to be a bit odd at times, but, being a German movie that I had to watch with subtitles, it didn’t bother me a great deal.
The quick scene transitions at times confused me, but it was an interesting way of flicking to and from the police to the criminal underworld – who both wanted the child murderer found.
The acting by the child murderer was absolutely excellent, he portrayed his internal struggle very well.
Well worth a watch.
I give it 9/10.
