Film: Assembly (2007)

Assembly:

I’m not sure for what reason another war movie has made it onto my ‘normal’ list, but, I’m glad this one did – even though I didn’t fully understand what happened in the middle.

As the synopsis says – this film is based on reality (as much as you can believe, anyway) of a regiment in the Chinese civil war, which ends up with just one survivor. And, because of that, the soldiers in there are classed as ‘missing in action’, instead of ‘killed in the line of duty’.

This film is amazingly violent/gruesome – with no holds barred on attempting to show the awfulness of war.

The part of the film I didn’t get is ‘what side found him’ and ‘what side did he end up on’? I’ve now read up on wikipedia, and I think it makes sense now.

It’s a very well made film.

I give it 9/10
