I didn’t realise this was a musical – but I knew it was an animation, though I assumed it was a 3D animation, not a stop motion one! The detail these animators put into their productions is simply amazing.
The film was good fun, and shorter than I thought it would be – 60 minutes or so. The trivia in this film was interesting too – first stop motion picture to be edited with Apple’s Final Cut Pro, and also, they used commercial cameras – Canon ones, with Nikon lenses. I don’t quite understand why they used Canon cameras with Nikon lenses.
Anyway, back to the film. The lead character, Victor, voiced by Johnny Depp is due to be married to someone he has not met before. While practising his wedding vows, he is actually in the presence of a dead woman, who thinks he is marrying her.
I couldn’t figure out how Victor was able to go into the underworld without actually being dead. That still confuses me…
I give it 7/10
