Movie: The Bride of Frankenstein (1935)

The Bride of Frankenstein:

I haven’t seen the earlier Frankenstein movie yet – it was a mistake on my part that I didn’t put a lower priority on this film on my lovefilm subscription..
Anyway, I thought the introduction to this film was done a little oddly – I couldn’t tell whether the acting was purposely over the top (and kind of what I expected might be the kind of acting in a theatre), or it was just the style that happened to be acted – if that even makes sense.
In any case, it worked for this film, which is what made me think it was probably purposely done.
I thought the effects and makeup in this film were really very well done. The monster’s, of course. And also Dr. Pretorius’s creations – I thought the effects for those were especially well done – seamless.

I enjoyed this film, though I had to watch it over two days, due to falling asleep (unrelated tiredness – not boredom from the film)!

I give it 8/10
