Another great Hitchcock film. This is one part of the IMDB top 250 that I’m learning to love – I never really knew Hitchcock before – I mean, I’d heard of his name, and that he was a mystery/thriller/crime person of some sort (wasn’t sure if he was a writer or a director)! Now I realise he’s one of the best directors of those genres, and I look forward to watching his films.
The romance in this film was great. Cary Grant in particular as a man who showed little emotion worked really well in this role – it seemed totally natural for his character to be this way. Ingrid Bergman was also very good, with a fantastic portrayal of her character.
The plot summary on imdb gives too much of the story away, I think.
All you really need to know is that Ingrid’s character’s father has been sentenced for treason in the United States. She is then approached at a party by the character played by Cary to help with some undercover work, and the story really gets going from there.
Definitely worth a watch.
I give it 10/10
