Starsky and Hutch: A very silly comedy based on the Starsky and Hutch characters – I don’t remember watching the series as a kid, so am not sure if the original was as silly as the film remake. I give it 6/10
Author: Sid
Film: In the Line of Fire (1993)
In the Line of Fire: A film about someone who is trying to kill the president of the USA. I give it 5/10
Film: Gran Torino (2008)
Film: Moon (2009)
Moon: What an odd find! Very good sci-fi, with a minimal number of actors – only one actually on screen at a time. Not sure what can be said about this film without giving it away. I think there were a few flaws in this film too. GERTY was a good HAL type equivalent. I […]
Film: District 9 (2009)
District 9: I did not realise that a large part of this film was done in a documentary style – a style of filming that I’m not really very much of a fan. However, this film, even though it started quite slow, did manage to keep me interested in what was going to happen next. […]
Film: A Knight’s Tale (2001)
A Knight’s Tale: A silly, but fun film about a peasant who becomes a knight. It’s comedy mostly, with an attempt to be a bit of a drama/romance. I give it 7/10
Film: We Were Soldiers (2002)
We Were Soldiers: A film about the first major battle in the Vietnamese war. It’s actually an amazingly good war film, yet again. Though it is definitely very ‘American’. The battle scenes did get to be very confusing – I really wasn’t too sure what was going on for chunks of the actual battle. I […]
Film: Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Brokeback Mountain: A film about the love between two cowboys. This film was good, but I didn’t think the film really explained the attraction, and how it started. It seemed that one minute they were just friends, and the next, they were in love/lust. I did enjoy the film, however, other than that part. I […]
Film: Cinderella Man (2005)
Cinderella Man: A film that I didn’t know a whole deal about before I started watching – I didn’t even know it was based on a true story. Anyway, the film is about a boxer, James Braddock, who had a good life, and then lost it all in the Great Depression, and was in poverty, […]
Film: Gangs of New York (2002)
Gangs of New York: I thought this was only a little over average, this film. Great acting, but, I just didn’t think the story was all that interesting. Lots of stuff about honour among criminals. Apparently it’s based on a nonfiction book called by the same name, written in 1928. I give it 6/10
