Probably the earliest film that I have seen with Marlon Brando in it, and he does play his part well! Outwardly appearing to be a ‘common’ man, he’s obviously fairly intelligent. Far more than Blanche (Vivien Leigh’s character) gives him credit initially.
I couldn’t tell whether Blanche was playing people, or was being sincere in what she believed in, or what. It was confusing for me in that regard. At the end, I suppose it should’ve been made clear for me, but, it wasn’t completely cleared up for me.
It was an enjoyable film, thought I found it slow at times.
I give it 7/10 – mostly for Vivien Leigh and Marlon Brando’s excellent performances.
