Movie: Barry Lyndon (1975)

Barry Lyndon:

A Stanley Kubrick period drama – not my favourite genre of film, if I’m honest. However, this film was quite interesting – the story kept me engaged for the length of it – 3 hours, which must be a good thing!

The story is about a ‘boy’, Redmond Barry, and how he got his name ‘Barry Lyndon’. The film starts with a short story of how his father was in a duel, following onto his mother, and then onto his cousin, who he is in love with. This love is the important part to the first quarter of the film or so.

Later on, Barry joins the army, travels around, meets people, and happens to get into the right kinds of circles to meet the rich and elegant.

This is where he meets his future wife.

That’s about all I’m going to say for now.

The performances in this film were fantastic, plain and simple really.

I give it 8/10
