I have to confess. My knowledge of France and their involvement in Algeria was practically non existent. I knew of some racial issues between the French and Algerians, but, had never bothered to look into it.
Now, I think my understanding is a lot better.
This film is about an Algerian resistance to French colonialism in the city of Algiers. It follows both sides, but does concentrate more on the Algerian side, I think it’s safe to say.
I think this film is amazingly done, and doesn’t really glorify anything in any way, and is fairly true to it’s documentary style of filming.
I give it 10/10. Watch it, if you get the chance.
