Movie: The Manchurian Candidate (1962)

The Manchurian Candidate:

I had no idea about this film apart from that it was a ‘political thriller’ before I watched it.
First things first, I had to watch this film with subtitles – every time I turned them off, something was said that I couldn’t quite catch, even when replaying the scene. The dialogue was a bit muffled, or simply too quick, or was at too low a volume – and my volume control on the amplifier was on a rather loud setting!

The story itself was very good. Though, I never did figure out the role of the woman who Major Marco met on the train… She appeared to do nothing for the story, as far as I could tell – I thought I was being stupid, but, it’s what another reviewer on imdb has mentioned also.

The intrigue of what was going to happen did keep interest high. I did think parts of the film were slow paced though – perhaps I am simply impatient, but, I don’t see the point of watching a slow scene when nothing is being setup, and it just seems to go on and on.

I give it 7/10
